The 10 Amazing Words That Have a Negative Connotation

10 Positive Words With Negative Meanings
Type me a love letter.

Words are not all they are cut out to be, but it’s mostly the concept that takes a nose dive from the start. While any word can be seen as an offset from a positive, there are few that truly have this power. Some words are flat out negative, but there are others that have a degree of subtlety in their negative sentiments. There are certain powerful words that you just cannot avoid thinking of the downside. These are the 10 positive words with negative meanings tied to them.

It is not to say that language was not a positive development in the history of humans, but it has it’s own set of problems. Much of his positivity is tied to religiosity and defensive coping, but it can also be because of outright stupidity. There are plenty of so-called “positive” words that fit the bill, but there are too many to list all together. It does not mean that listing some of the best is not worth a shot though. In the end, you have to learn to choose your words wisely.

10 Positive Words With Negative Meanings

1. Love

Love has such a gushy meaning, but no one can really describe it. On it’s face, it seems harmless and almost alright; however, there seem to be some problems with it. It involves affection, but there is also nepotism and greed tied to it. We can all love to some degree, but the wishful thinking behind the word does little to compensate for it. People love to get caught up in the word and what it means, but that is just another waste of time.

When you love someone, you are doing it because it benefits you, as we are all inherently selfish. If you are alright with accepting this, then maybe love is not such a bad word to you. It just seems like most people need to stop using the word so needlessly. It literally takes all of the meaning away from this nearly meaningless word wrapped in bigotry and selfishness. If you love someone, be sure to listen to why the next time you explain it.

2. Desire

Desire is another word that does little to make things right, as it is just another word for why people love each other. Hedonism is tied to desire, and desire leaves room for dissatisfaction. If we desire something, it is because we are not getting something we want or need. Even if it is a philosophical angle, it still ties into the word. The word in and of itself is negative or has negativity it, even if it were just my opinion telling me this.

This unyielding desire can imply a desire for good, but desire leaves much to be desired. It can lead to so many problems, including cheating, stealing, and death. The more someone desires something the worse the consequences and more you are actually deprived. A desire can lead to persistence and this does not always equal out to good. If you think that desire is all good, then you are missing a crucial piece of the puzzle.

3. Repair

Repair is a good word, and it seems like there is no pretense tied to it. Yes, we all know that the word has a negative connotation, but is there really? The connotation, at least on the surface, seems rather good, as it has to do with making things better. This is the problem though, as words like better and repair go hand in hand. The deeper you look at the meaning of this word, the more you can realize about life. Life is all about repairing things that need to be fixed.

Be it your car, nose, hunger, or sexual desire, repair will be there in the middle. The problem is that not everything cannot be repaired, at least not back to the way it was. Maybe this is digging too deep or is a incongruent stretch, but repair says something bad that seems good. This is the point of trying to understand words anyway, because they are only as good as what they represent. In the end, if you truly understand it, will you understand that repair is a bad word tied to a needless cycle.

4. Perfect

Perfect is a great word if you are looking to see everything else as imperfect. Some people try to escape this by saying that life is perfect in it’s imperfection, but this is an evasion. This religious take to make things perfect only serves to serve a functionless word, and the implication is that much is far from perfect. There is always the perfect we can all thing of as an ideal society with desire satisfied. The problem is that it does little to give this word impact, which it can actually have.

They say that practice makes perfect, but it truly only makes you better. You can perform perfectly, at least to some degree with enough practice, but a mistake is always around the corner. In a very limited context, perfect can make some sense. In a broad context, the word only serves to breathe nonsense into a word of meaninglessness and false promises. You should not let the perfect get in the way of the better, but better is always out there and out of reach.

5. Power

Power sounds like a great word that can have good and bad meanings. The truth is that there are so many negative implications to the word you should avoid ignoring. Power implies having the will to finally do something, but other meanings are often overlooked. The meaning of this word, at least to me and it’s creation is tied to power over people in a negative way. There are better words to think of when trying to motivate yourself, but power implies taking something over others.

All words are concepts, and they have been around of millennia, including the powerful. It should be noted that it also implies that it takes doing what you can in response to the power of will against you. There is so much to work against when it comes to power, as it ultimately means to rise against. Again, it depends on the person thinking about the word, but the negative connotation is fairly obvious. Even if it seems like a stretch, all words are devious forms of deception mean for ill-will.

6. Relief

Relief is a decent word, but who do you know that would settle for less? The very least we all deserve is relief, and the word does have a lot to do with repair. While this relief means you are depriving yourself from a negative, it is not this in reality. You are actually always in a negative looking to relieve yourself with a positive. The problem is that the only positive we have is relieving ourselves of the negative.

This means that the water you drank after walking through the desert was the best thing in the world. Unless you like to constantly relive the relieving through negatives, then what is the point. If there is nothing to relieve, then you are stuck in utter mediocrity. This is the problem with words and their meanings, as the good is all about the moment of not being trapped in bad.

7. Intelligence

Intelligence is seen as this word of wonder that describes people who are smart or smart thinking. While this may seem great, the power this word has over stupid is immeasurable. Intelligence is simply a word that describe a thing, as it is a noun and serves it’s purpose well enough. The connotation to intelligence though is in it’s use, and this is why the word is taken out of context. The idea behind intelligence is good, as it describes the degree of intellect a person has. The problem comes in it’s overall meaning, as it means that there are varying degrees of intelligence.

There is competition tied to it, which is another concept with it’s own more obvious problems. To some, this may be a stretch or even a good thing, but it is not. Having any degree of intellect means the pursuit of solving problems. While solving problems is good, intelligence is often used for scheming and wealth. The more you have brains, the more you are likely to realize the abysmal nature of everything, too. While everyone is thinking about how smart they are, be sure to show it with how you word things.

8. Life

Life is one of those words that really has a few meanings beyond what people accept in their lexicon. The meaning of life is about cellular life, but it is also about the cognitive life via sentient consciousness it has created. They are both negative and do little to display the grandiosity of what others think life is. Life is seen as some beautiful word with such a positive connotation, but it is not. Many of these same people are willing to put up with every little screw over from life, as it makes them feel stronger.

This is a filter most people wish to look through, because they are too dumb to understand reality. Words are created to describe things in the same way the word wet was used to describe liquids. Life is a not as hospitable as you think, as all it leads to is more redundant tragedy and unnecessary pain. If you find this to be a positive thing, then the negativity lies within you.

9. Winning

The word win or winning is seen as the best possible outcome for someone or group of people. This is great for the winner, but there are plenty of losers out there as well. The more we look at the winner, the more we breathe power into this word being negative. It does not matter how much we are willing to accept it, as it is fact that there are more losers than winners. We look at losers with scorn, only to tell them to take it and try better next time. The entire concept of winning and losing can be applied to just about everything we do in life.

Life is unfair, but it does not need to be glorified to the point of acceptance like most people adhere to. The unfortunate tragedy is that the difference between winning in losing can be about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You practiced so much, but it all ended with a broken leg on the way to the Olympics. While it seems like we can ignore it, there is no glory in avoiding what the truth is.

10. Procreation

Procreation is a nasty word tied to trapping someone else up against their will to join you in life. You may feel like you are doing them a favor, but you really are not. This is also tied to things like sex and creation theories, as they are the things that guide this negative principle. You may have convinced them to take it up the butt, but their appreciation is a depreciating value that keeps going down.

Like life, procreation is seen as giving someone a gift, but this gift will keep on giving. If it does, the so-called gift is giving you something far from what a gift should be. You would not be here to experience the highs, but you would have no desire to be here anyway. Just because you cannot get the consent of the child, does not mean that the consent should not be mandatory.
