There are a lot of promises when it relates to finding a means of income online. It could be blogging, vlogging, or even selling your music for a price. Although article writing is supposed to be an alternative to a normal nine to five job, some people get in over their head. Even if people were privy to the downsides, they would probably choose it as an option anyway. While not all of it is time-consuming and bad, plenty of things leave much to be desired. Not everyone wants to do it; however, it certainly serves as a reasonable option. There will be times when you question why you are doing it, and this is why I am here. These are the 10 reasons why blogging sucks, but do not take my word for it.

1. People Do Not Help
If you’re looking to make money online, you may run into a few struggles. It’s not to say that it cannot eventually pay off, but there are reasons to question the work. Not everyone you run into is going to be nice, open, or forgiving, so you have to acknowledge the pain. While it is easy to give advice, many of those same people do not want to follow their own example. You will be on your own a lot of the time, and you cannot expect much from others. There will be times where you need a helping hand, but no one will be there to see it. If you want to make decent money online, understand that other bloggers will not always play a fair game of ball. They are there for themselves, and nothing, including you, will stop them.

2. The Money is Lacking
While the entire game of rolling of the dice is nice, it’s hard to say that it can earn you some hard-earned spice. It’s a difficult time earning that cash online, and there are plenty of pitfalls worth avoiding. There is some good money to be made in the process, but there are some tough-to-get-by snaggles along the way. It’s not entirely like winning the lottery; however, you will have to get lucky to some degree. The hard work is real, and the amount of time it can take will make you lose motivation. Unfortunately, a lot of the required work is hidden behind necessitated facades and bureaucracy. If this sounds like it will set you back, then veer away before it’s too late.

3. It Takes Time
As I have mentioned earlier: The blogging community is toxically fruitless, brimmed with excuses, and will not aid you during your journey. You can have the best material in the world, but people will still find a way to shaft your effort. Most bloggers close themselves off and do little to show appreciation in the meantime. A lot of scheming is at play here, and people will even call you a complainer. They play the typical game without ever realizing how they can return the favor in the same exact way that it was done for them. If you need to know something, just understand that the writing world is ruthless. In summary, the blogging game will take time, and no matter the community, they will screw you over.

4. It’s Plenty of Work
While the work online can be simple, be sure not to expect an easy ride. Most bloggers will lie through their teeth just to get another article out. Although it is okay to tell people how easy it is, there is still plenty of work involved. Everyone has an opinion, and it is certainly okay to share it. On the downside, you will be inundated with insults, and the suffering is real. Every person you see basically skates by with the support of close friends and family, but the websites are poorly made. There’s an inherent laziness you can sense, and the lack of work they need to put in is excused as a job done elsewhere. You can often try your hardest, but after all is said and done, it may not work out anyway.

5. The Advice is Bad
When searching around the internet, you will see the majority of blogs simply trying to scoot by. Most of the advice given in the blogs is abysmal, but some of the articles you find will be good. Looking through the average, popular blogs will allow you to gaze at the sea of mediocrity. The best you can expect from ad revenue writing is the same you can anticipate from a machine at the mall. If the blog happens to have a lot of followers, then it likely got there through a means of cheating. Everyone wants to take the safe route to success, as the effort through words seems to be immensely lacking. It does not matter if you are looking at an article, personal website, or an account on a blogging platform, because the influence of Google is ubiquitous.

6. Most People Do Not Read Them
When you finally decide to share your genius online, be sure to keep your expectations tempered. The average slump will close themselves off just to make sure that they do not have to hear it or help you. You can even be writing the best articles the internet has seen, and no one will spot them. If you want people to feast their eyes on your work, you have to network and sell a little bit of your soul. This just so happens to be the way of the world, and the word will spread. Other bloggers are in this steep competition, and that battle is never-ending too. Even though they are supposed to be your esteemed colleagues, they serve as nothing but the worst coworkers on the planet. That money ball then starts rolling in the opposite direction, and you will never catch up.

7. It Requires Maintenance
If you wish to keep your wheels turning, you have to make some sacrifices along the way. As we all know, it’s not always easy sailing while keeping a website going and lucrative. Although you can make a reasonable living, it feels like you are constantly going uphill doing research. There are maintenance fees if you wish to run a website, and the tools at your disposal require a yearly checkup. Everyone has to make sure, if they are looking for an audience, that their SEO score is good too. You even need to network for backlinks from people you don’t like and update your articles every month. If you are extremely lucky, you can finely cruise with the help of a major website. Afterall, it needs to be treated like a business, and the challenge is daily.

8. There’s Little Respect for It
The point of starting a blog is to garner some disposable income before making it a thing. You may even need to make your ends meet by making it work on the side. Unless you are lucky and have the ability to do it fulltime from the start, it’s going to take patience. Although you may get to finally skip that daily commute, it certainly does not start or seem that way to begin with. This is because those two long years before you make that special pay check will seem like a bittersweet irony. However, once you make it as a blogger, there is no longer a reason to communicate with others. This makes the blogging community excessively bland and rude, but the blander the better. Afterall, this is the way things work for the classiest of us online.

9. It’s Full of Dishonesty
Almost every blogger you find will have little in the way of courage to write a full-blown article. Writing lists and articles is too hard, but it does little to dampen the success. They will even paste their face and name to the front page of their site and claim things that are entirely untrue. You then have to be determined to push through the garbage, but it always takes up time. If a blogger tells you that it will take twenty hours a week to find success, then expect that number to double over time. If they tell you to do something for views, then understand that something may be shamelessly excluded. They will expect a lot from you, but they cannot afford to favor you in return. If you simply look at it like any other job, then you will avoid the disappointment.

10. There’s Little Creativity
When it comes to ruffling feathers, the same can be applied to blogging. It does not matter what you are doing or how you do it, because there is plenty of room to fail. If you think that writing about anything you want is an option, then you will struggle to stay afloat. There are limitations set in place for rogue stragglers, and they make anyone who goes outside of the norm suffer. Even if you decide to spend a forty hour week on your blog, you should not expect the audience to care. They may even cancel you for sharing a controversial opinion because of a nasty word. They got all of the help they needed, so why even bother beyond that. This is the sad state of affairs when dealing with the streamlined process, and they will strictly claim you as a missed opportunity.

The Ending
If you cannot already tell by now, the complaints seem to stack and are ultimately the same. It’s not just the job that can suck, because the people can suck too. The point of blogging is to network with others, but this barely does the trick. There is no true easy way out, and you will never be appreciated by the vast majority of other “likeminded” bloggers. There are some decent folks out there, but most of them do little to show it. Everything ends up cliched, and the average vlogger is no smarter than a can of beans. Not a single person has your back, and you are eternally stuck in that gutter of despair. If your goal was to work from home without a worry in the world, then you may be in for a rude awakening.

The vast majority of bloggers are bad writers, and they have learned nothing from their success. Most people even opt to do simple blog updates without putting any effort towards something meaningful. You need to type shorter blogs, which seems easy and productive at first, but this ultimately leads to a terrifying truth. If you want to make money, you will have to accrue an audience with luck and lies only to rely on an irrelevant sponsor on YouTube. Furthermore, it only serves to make you shallower by helping you fit in with the rest of the drool. Unfortunately, the average blogger is a clueless but working professional who has this needless control over constructive criticism.

Even if it is only pointless complaining, there’s always more to it than that. The paycheck you earn could be good for one month and not another. You really have to know what you are doing, but the end result always seems to come up short. For some, it may be easy, and for others like myself, it’s a daily difficulty. In the end, it’s simply sharing an honest but harmless opinion for the masses. These are, in fact, just small complaints about a supposedly good hobby. The works seems easy enough, but there is more involved than you think. Maybe, after all of this work, this will teach someone a lesson if anyone ever decides to read it. (I hope that someone can relate … at least for now.)
